With everything in place I moved to France and threw myself into my writing. I enjoyed the freedom of researching and writing my novel, safe in the knowledge that my finances were taken care of.
Unfortunately, a short while after my move I started feeling unwell. Following a number of tests, I was diagnosed with a mild form of MS. It was an incredibly difficult time. I moved back to the UK to deal with my diagnosis. Mentally I was fitting all of the jigsaw pieces of my diagnosis together.
I needed to make some big decisions about my future, such as buying a house and maintaining my income, given the state of my health. Mike had been a stable presence throughout and had originally arranged for me to take out a critical illness policy as part of my lifestyle plan.
To my surprise, I found my condition was covered. I genuinely thought my insurance only protected illnesses like cancer. I contacted the insurer and Mike was there for support if I needed it. My claim was handled smoothly and efficiently, without any issues.
